Company history
N.V. Pawani Medan was established in 1957 and as an exporter of coffee, rubber, cassia vera, cloves and patchouly oil.
Since 1977 we specialize in one commodity, i.e. coffee beans of good and high quality as Sumatra Mandheling grade-I and Robusta coffee AP-I grade-II. Our main export destinations are Japan, Taiwan & USA but 95% of our allocation is to Japan and Taiwan. This is because our good and vast relations especially with our buyers in Japan whom had know us with our trademark PWN which represents “Quality Guarantee” in Japan as well as Taiwan.
N.V. Pawani Medan is the first coffee exporter from North Sumatra in 1969 who introduced and made-known “Sumatra Arabica Coffee Mandheling” grade-I into the Japanese market. Since then and up to now, our coffee is very popular to the Japanese & Taiwanese coffee buyers as well as roasters.
The prospect of Indonesian coffee into the Japanese market is good and bright, because of the geographic position which produces quality coffee suitable for the Japanese.
Presently “Charcoal Coffee” that is coffee fried by charcoal, is becoming popular in Japan. This opportunity is good for us and we should made-use of it, because North Sumatra has this potential in expanding by replanting of high quality coffee Arabica, like “Kalossi” coffee from Sulawesi Indonesia and “Blue Mountain” coffee from Jamaica.
Last but not least, the fact of exporting good & high quality coffee could be fullfilled since there is some doubt in regard to the limited allocation at present.
